The Toll Operations Division (TOD) is responsible for developing, operating, and maintaining TxDOT owned toll roads. TxDOT currently operates approximately 253 centerline miles of toll roads in the Austin (Central Texas Turnpike System), Houston (Grand Parkway/SH 99 and SH 249), and Dallas & Ft. Worth regions. TOD provides toll system design, integration, implementation, maintenance, oversight, analysis, reporting, and coordination of business and financial services with internal and external stakeholders to ensure cost-effective and efficient operation of TxDOT operated toll roads. TOD is actively involved on the Enterprise teams for department toll roads where multiple divisions and districts are collaborating to implement toll policy and oversee our toll roads during all project life cycle stages.

The specific services that we provide for each toll road varies according to regional policy, statutory authority, legal and financial contracts, and the type of toll road.

TOD is also responsible for TxTag back office operations including the following: TxTag marketing and website, TxTag and Pay By Mail accounts, TxTag Call Center/Customer Service Center and store front locations, violations, collections, courts, regional mobility operations support, and interoperability coordination with other local and state toll authorities.

For toll inquiries, please contact the TxTag Customer Service Center or call (888) 468-9824.

Tracey Johnson serves as division director. Contact us with questions or comments.

Emergency Responder State Toll Exemption Policy

The State Toll Exemption Policy outlines how emergency, police, first responders and construction vehicles are exempt from paying tolls. In the interest of public safety, law enforcement and emergency vehicles are toll-exempt on all state toll roads. The revised policy will allow first responders expedited travel in times of disasters and emergencies. What constitutes an emergency vehicle can be found in Transportation Code, §541.201.
