Registration is open for the 2018 National Safety Rest Area Conference, where you'll find ideas, methods and research findings on providing a safe transportation experience for travelers.

It is often said that all roads lead to Rome. For transportation officials, Rome means "safety," and the roads leading to safety rest areas are literally Roads to Safety, for they entice travelers to stop and take a break from continued and fatigued driving — a major cause of all motor vehicle crashes.

Texas Safety Rest Area Bus Tour

Conference attendees will be taken on an all-day bus tour of three Texas Safety Rest Areas to experience the unique appeal of each location. Each Texas safety rest area is designed with context sensitivity to capture the look and feel of the unique area where the project is located. The distinctive, regional character of each safety rest area, along with its interpretive exhibits that showcase local features, is intended to entice travelers to stop for a safe, enjoyable and enriching experience.
