A raised pavement marker (RPM) is a device mounted on the roadway surface intended to be used as a positioning guide and/or to supplement pavement markings. RPMs used on TxDOT roadways have reflectorized surfaces. The colors of the RPMs conform to the color of the marking for which they serve as a positioning guide or for which they supplement. Examples of lane markings that are supplemented by RPMs include: broken lane lines, double yellow lane lines, exclusive turn lane lines and wrong way arrows.
