Purpose:
The Destination sign is used in advance of an intersection to show the direction a driver should turn at the intersection to go to the indicated destination(s). The destinations shown on a Destination sign can be a city, town, village, highway junction, or other traffic generator. Normally, not more than three destinations are used on a Destination sign.
Components:
The following components make up a Destination sign:
  • Standard:
    Destination name and directional arrow.
  • Optional:
    None

Destination signs are typically used at the following locations:
  • At the intersection of two numbered highway routes, and
  • At points where they serve to direct traffic from highway routes to the business section of towns, or to other destinations reached by unnumbered routes.
