The Live Video Stream component is currently used primarily for the streaming of the Texas Transportation Commission meetings. However, it can be utilized for other live streaming video events. Because our recurring Commission video streams use the same streaming URL, the component has been configured so that AEM authors can turn on or turn off whether the component displays on the page without deleting the component. This is managed with the ‘Commission livestream video’ checkbox. If this is checked, a second checkbox displays with the option to ‘Show commission video.’ If the ‘Show commission video’ checkbox is unchecked, then the component does not display for users. Once the checkbox is checked and the change is published, the live stream now displays on the site. The fields for ‘Video Title’ and ‘Video embed link’ are both required. The Video Title will display on the page directly above the streaming video, and the Video embed link is the URL of the streaming service – this will be provided by the service hosting the streaming video. In addition, there is an optional Description rich text editor that can be used to display text below the streaming video. Finally, the Select Video Layout dropdown menu lets you specify either the standard 'Inset' display or choose the 'Full Width' layout. If no content is currently being streamed by the streaming provider, you will likely just get a black box – so it’s recommended not to enable ‘Show commission video’ until just before your streaming event goes live.
