The Featured Articles component is a flexible way to highlight and link to content that you want to promote. The component currently has two different layout options: a Horizontal layout that organizes items in horizontal rows, and the Featured layout that presents one primary item as a larger, more prominent item. The other difference between the two layout options is that the horizontal layout can display a large number of items – however, the Featured layout can only display 3 or 4 items in order to preserve the presentation. Each article item consists of four parts: an image, a Title, the title Link and an optional Description field. For a consistent display, all images in the same Feature Articles component should share the same aspect ratio, such as 900 x 600. If the image is purely decorative and does not convey additional information, mark the image as Decorative. Titles should correspond to the page you are linking to. Be sure to use a descriptive and unique title, since this will be your link to the highlighted page. Use the path picker tool to link to other AEM assets or pages If linking to an external site or document, check the box to open in a new tab. Your Description text should help clarify the content or purpose of the page you're linking to. If you are using the Horizontal layout, make all Description text of similar lengths so that the display is visually balanced – don’t have one Description field significantly longer than all the others. If you know you are going to use the Featured layout, only the Description for the larger, primary article will be displayed. There is also the option to include a single button as part of your Featured Articles – for example, the component items could highlight upcoming campaigns, while the button links to a list of all safety campaigns. To add this single button, check the ‘Include a button’ checkbox – then complete the Button text and Button link fields. Almost any Featured Articles component can be displayed in either the Horizontal or Featured layout options – the only limitation is that the Featured layout requires a minimum of 3 items and will display a maximum of four items. You can use the ‘Make primary feature’ checkbox to designate which article will be displayed in the larger, more prominent position. To change which item is primary, it isn’t necessary to uncheck the existing ‘Make primary feature’ box—simply check the checkbox for the item you DO want to make primary.
