Shop Drawings - Hardcopy Requirements

Hardcopy submittals are optional for lettings before October 1, 2005. Shop drawing submittals must be electronic for all lettings after October 1, 2005.

Contact the TxDOT district associated with the project for direction on submitting working drawings. Note: Not all districts permit electronic submission of working drawings.

When permitted or required by the district, hardcopy submittals must be printed on 11 x 17 (half-scale) paper and be legible at that size. Full-size drawings are accepted in special cases, such as when a smaller operation is not equipped to produce CAD drawings.

Drawing Standards

It is recommended that shop plan detailers use drawing practices similar to those displayed on TxDOT bridge standards.

Fonts must be no smaller than those used in TxDOT bridge standards (typically a Leroy 140 height-equivalent to 1/16 height on an 11 x 17 sheet).

Note: Submittals that do not follow these general guidelines and are subsequently deemed illegible will be returned to the detailing entity for correction prior to review.
