Salaries and Fringe Benefits (100 & 200)

Select the overtime and/or the regular time. Provide the details of Regualar time, if checked, in the applicable box at the bottom of the page.

Note: The number of law enforcement hours previously entered on the Law Enforcement Objective/ Performance Measure page will appear on the Salaries and Fringe Benefits page.

Enter the amount of enforcement hours, wage rates and fringe benefit rates proposed for the project. State if the hours and rates are TxDOT hours/rates or match hours/rates by adding them to the appropriate columns. The total number of enforcement hours must match the enforcement hours on the Law Enforcement Objective/Performance Measure page.

Note: All personnel hours listed under (100) Salaries A. Enforcement, including Sergeants and Lieutenants, are for conducting enforcement activiites only during STEP. Any administrative or suprvisory activities must be included under C.Administrative Duties

Enter the amount of PI&E and Administrative duties hours, wage rates and fringe benefit rates proposed for the project. State if the hours and rates are TxDOT hours/rates or match hours/rates by adding them to the appropriate columns.

If fringe benefits are included in the budget, the fringe benefit total dollar amount must be entered into the TxDOT and/or Match boxes at the bottom of the screen. The fringe benefit total dollar amount must match the totals from the TxDOT and/or Match boxes. Once saved, the system will calculate the TxDOT and Match percentages. In addition, a breakdown of the fringe benefit rate must be added in the breakdown of fringe percentages box.

It is the intention to maximize the enforcement activity in the STEP grants by including the maximum amount of funds in (100) Salaries, A, Enforcement (overtime). With this in mind, the Subgrantee must develop their budget within the following levels:
a) The TxDOT amount of PI&E Activities (overtime), under (100) Salaries, B, must not exceed ten (10) percent of the Total TxDOT Salaries budgeted under (100).
b) The TxDOT amount of Other (i.e., overtime staff, supervisory support, conducting surveys, etc.), under (100) Salaries, C, must not exceed ten (10) percent of the Grand Total TxDOT amount budgeted.

Note: Subgrantees requiring the use of officers above the rank of lieutenant for enforcement activities must complete the Rank Authorization – Request for Approval form and submit it to TxDOT. The request must be approved prior to the incurring of any enforcement costs for officers above the rank of lieutenant.

If you receive the error 'The Fringe totals do not match', you must allocate the total fringe benefit amount into either the TxDOT or Match fringe benefit boxes. These two boxes must equal the Total Fringe Amount.
