FM 1518 Expansion

TxDOT is moving forward with the expansion of FM 1518 from FM 78 to I-10 in Bexar County. The FM 1518 Expansion project will include $73 million of transportation improvements designed to increase mobility and safety along 5.6 miles of the corridor.

  • Construction of a 34-f.t wide raised center median
  • Construction of a 10-ft. wide shared-use path along the eastside of the roadway; and,
  • Construction of a 6-ft. wide sidewalk along the westside of the roadway

Benefits

Once complete, the FM 1518 Expansion will improve mobility and enhance safety by:

  • Increasing connectivity
  • Separating opposing lanes of traffic
  • Integrating bike and pedestrian access with the construction of sidewalk and shared-use path accommodations

Timeline

The project will be constructed in phases beginning in spring 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2028.
