Applications for High-Speed Intercity Passenger Rail Program

Eight billion dollars in ARRA funding for high-speed and intercity passenger rail was made available to states, groups of states and rail development organizations through a competitive grant process.

The Federal Railroad Administration received over $100 billion worth of projects through pre-applications, which served as the first step in the application process and as a means to gage demand. Applications based on the pre-apps were submitted August 24 for Tracks 1, 3 and 4. Track 2 applications are due October 2.
