Making sure Vision 21 (V21) comes off without a hitch requires us to review our existing
policies, laws and processes. We also want to make sure everyone from customers
to stakeholders receives timely information about our progress.
Here’s what
we’re working on now:
Fee Study
We’re looking at what other states charge in registration and title fees. Our
goal is to develop a logical, standardized fee structure for our services.
Database Review
We’re going through our database with a fine-tooth comb to clean up any data
entry errors to make sure V21 launches strong out of the gate.
Process Mapping
We’re analyzing what we do and how we do it to identify inefficiencies in our
work procedures and streamline our operations. Process mapping will:
- Identify ways to improve customer service
- Show us how to operate more efficiently
- Create a plan for re-structuring and optimizing our work procedures to
accommodate V21 development
- Highlight inefficient work processes that require changes in law
Statute Review
We’re reviewing Texas law to find where changes may be needed to ensure V21
is the best system for our customers, county tax assessor-collectors and
other stakeholders, such as law enforcement. These changes could include:
- Eliminating inconsistencies in statutes
- Resolving legal ambiguities
- Eliminating existing legal barriers to new technologies
- Clearly defining roles and responsibilities for TxDOT and our partners
- Creating a standardized fee structure (see Fee Study above)
- Simplifying work processes (see Process Mapping above)
Communication
We want you to know what we’re doing and why.
We plan to regularly update the Web site
with the latest V21 information.
