PURPOSE
To provide you information on processing Disaster Relief and
Soil Conservation specialty license plates with March 2009
expiration.
DETAILS
Your office may have recently received Disaster
Relief and Soil Conservation license plates inventory with March
2009 expiration as part of your Annual Plate Allotment Program.
The Registration and Title System (RTS) Release 5.5.0 (December
2007) includes the functionality to process these plates.
COUNTY ACTION
When a customer presents their three-part
vehicle registration renewal notice, your office may process the
renewal in RTS (similar to renewing a Combination license
plate). Disaster Relief plate customers should be assigned a new
plate and charged a fee of $5.30. Soil Conservation plates are
limited to one truck or one truck-tractor, and one trailer or
semi-trailer, and the fee is 50% of the fee prescribed by the
registration classification.
The attached guidelines can be used as a quick reference for
processing these qualifying license plates. We have also
attached copies of the revised applications for each specialty
license plate, which are available on our web site at
www.txdot.gov.
