Electronic Distribution to Counties |
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by
TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This
information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the
state’s vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To inform you that the Vehicle Titles and Registration Division
(VTR) will electronically distribute information via a Texas
Department of Transportation created and maintained Electronic
Mailing List. Using e-mail to distribute information supports
our mission to enhance customer service, improve efficiency, and
reduce costs.
DETAILS
Effective November 26, 2007, we will use the VTR
Electronic Mailing List to distribute Registration and Title
Bulletins, general information, etc. exclusively. The electronic
distribution of information will enhance our direct
communication with county offices; expedite the receipt of
information; and reduce paper, envelope and postage costs.
We have developed our Electronic Mailing List to allow multiple
subscribers from each
county office. The number of subscribers in each county will be
determined by the tax assessor-collector (TAC). There is no
maximum. We believe multiple recipients are essential to ensure
receipt and timely distribution of information within offices if
the TAC is unavailable. This Electronic Mailing List is only
intended for VTR distribution purposes and therefore, we request
that messages, questions or comments not be posted by
subscribers. Instead, please route your questions or comments
through the Regional Offices.
Our Electronic Mailing List will serve as our primary method for
distribution of information. To ensure there is not a break in
the receipt of information and that your office receives all
information distributed by VTR, we invite all TAC’s to subscribe
and extend this subscription invitation to their employees. To
make this process as easy as possible, everyone who is on the
TACA e-mail list will be automatically subscribed to the VTR
Electronic Mailing List.
In order to give everyone enough time to subscribe, we will
continue to send VTR information via the TACA listserv until the
above effective date. Upon the effective date, we will only use
the VTR Electronic Mailing List to distribute VTR information.
COUNTY ACTION
Individuals not automatically subscribed may subscribe by using either of the
following two methods:
Method One (easiest and fastest):
Visit our
electronic mailing list and subscribe using the steps detailed on the Web
page.
Method Two:
- Create a new e-mail message.
- In the “To” box, type
“vtr-tac-request@dot.state.tx.us” without the quotation marks.
- In the "Subject" box, type "Subscribe" without the quotation marks.
- Leave the BODY OF THE MESSAGE empty (blank).
- Send the message.
- You'll receive a confirmation e-mail asking you to reply to the message
or visit a Web page to confirm that you want to be added to this mailing
list. If you choose to reply to the message, do not enter anything in the
body of the e-mail.
- Upon confirmation, you will receive a “Welcome to the "VTR-TAC" mailing
list” message via e-mail.
To view the electronic version of this
RTB, click on the link under “General
information about the mailing list is at:”
of your welcome message, then click on the
link to the “VTR Electronic Archives” on the
VTR Electronic Mailing List Web page.
We are working to make the VTR communication process more efficient. If you
have any comments or suggestions about this process, please share your ideas
with your local Regional Office.
We want to express our appreciation to the Tax Assessor-Collectors
Association for allowing us to use their Listserv the last several months as we
developed our own.
