Titles Printed with Exempt Remarks |
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by
TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This
information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the
state’s vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To inform you of an error on Texas titles issued with Disabled
Veteran and Purple Heart registrations September 14 through
October 10, 2007.
DETAILS
Due to a now corrected programming problem,
approximately 500 titles were printed incorrectly with an
‘Exempt’ remark. We were able to catch many of these before they
were mailed, but some were not.
We anticipate this error will have minimal to no impact on the customer;
therefore, we will not send any notification. Instead, the ‘Exempt’ remark has
been removed from the affected title records in our database. When a corrected
title or transfer of ownership occurs, subsequent titles will be issued without
this remark.
COUNTY ACTION
If a customer contacts your office concerning this issue, please provide the
above information. If a corrected title is requested to remove the ‘Exempt’
remark, advise the customer to return the original Texas title with a written
request to the department. Upon receipt we will issue a corrected title at no
charge.
CONTACT
If you have any questions or need any additional

e-mail us and include the RTB number.
Repeat requests are subject to charges in accordance with Open Record
