TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This
information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the
state’s vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To provide updated Local County Fees and Registration Fees,
effective January 1, 2008.
DETAILS
Since the registration fee structure for passenger vehicles is based on year
model, adjustments must be made each year to the fee groups. For registration
periods beginning January 1, 2008, the fee groups will be as follows:
- 2002 and older models – $40.80
- 2003, 2004 and 2005 models – $50.80
- 2006 and newer models – $58.80
These year model adjustments will appear on registration renewals mailed in
November for vehicles with December 2007 registration expiration. Owners of
vehicles with December 2007 expiration dates will be paying registration fees
for the period beginning January 1, 2008.
New and out-of-state passenger vehicles registered during December 2007 will
be charged fees based on the current fee schedules. During this period, if a
Texas titled vehicle requires the issuance of 13 to 36 months of registration,
the current fee schedule will be used. Starting January 1, 2008, the new fee
schedule will apply to all registrations and renewals.
COUNTY ACTION
Please make additional copies of the attached Passenger Fee Schedule and
Schedule of Texas Registration Fees as needed. You should retain some of your
current fee schedules for use until after December 31, 2007.
