Point of Sale Sticker Printing (POSSP) Paper |
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by
TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This
information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the
state’s vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To advise of recent reports of printing problems with POSSP
paper.
DETAILS
TxDOT has received reports of printing problems relating to the
POSSP forms. Reports indicate that some POSSP paper is sticking
together resulting in printer jams. We have worked closely with
the vendor to identify forms that may be potentially affected.
Approximately 1.5 million suspect forms were distributed
statewide. The control numbers range from 62034001 through
63520000.
Preliminary findings indicate the cause may have been due to incomplete die
cuts that allowed the adhesive to seep through when the forms were stacked. We
have instituted additional quality control procedures to address this problem
and are working with the vendor to determine any other changes that can be made
to prevent this from occurring in the future.
The Vehicle Titles and Registration Division, Special Services Branch (SSB),
has identified the offices that received the suspect forms. In an effort to
minimize the impact of the problem, SSB has begun distribution of partial
replacement stock to these offices.
COUNTY ACTION
We ask that you check your remaining inventory of POSSP forms
for the control numbers identified above. If a carton of forms
falls within the range of the identified control numbers, please
do not use that paper if possible and set the box aside for pick
up by the vendor. The Regional Office for your area will
coordinate pick up of the suspect paper by the vendor in the
near future. If the partial replacement stock is not sufficient
and more is needed, additional stock should be ordered through
normal procedures.
