Title Revocation Projects for RPO’s and State Farm
Insurance |
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by
TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This
information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the
state’s vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To provide you with information
regarding two title revocation
projects that will revoke titles
and place legal restraints on
the records.DETAILS
As mentioned in RTB # 008-06,
approximately 2,200 original
titles were issued that should
have been issued as
"Registration Purposes Only" (RPO)
transactions. We are revoking
these titles and placing a legal
restraint on the record. The
record will show "Title Revoked"
and
"Legal Restraint-Contact TxDOT
(#RPO)." Registration may be
renewed on these vehicles.
Applications for transfer of
ownership should not be accepted
with these titles but may be
accepted with the out-of-state
title. Beginning this month, a
letter will be sent out to the
owners and/or lienholders
requesting the return of the
original title so that a
corrected registration receipt
confirming the vehicle’s
"Registration Purposes Only"
status can be issued.
Another large title revocation project involves approximately
3,000 titles resulting from the notification by State Farm that
the titles were issued without the "Rebuilt Salvage-Damaged"
remark. We are revoking these titles and placing a legal
restraint on the record. The record will show "Title Revoked," "Legal
Restraint-Contact TxDOT
(#Salvage)" and the remark
"Rebuilt Salvage-Damaged."
Registration may be renewed on
these vehicles. When accepting
applications for transfer of
ownership, the "Rebuilt
Salvage-Damaged" remark should
be carried forward. The owners
will not be required to submit a
Rebuilt Affidavit (Form
VTR-61) or pay the $65.00
rebuilt fee. Beginning this
month, letters will be sent to
the owners and/or lienholders
requesting the return of the
titles for branding.
