Specialty Plate Stock for County Tax Offices |
These documents contain text of correspondence sent by
TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This
information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the
state’s vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
To rescind RTB #020-04 and RTB #053-04, and to simplify
procedures for counties requesting specialty license plate
stock.DETAILS
Specialty plate quantities allocated to counties are based on
anticipated or actual usage. Requests for specialty plate stock
should be submitted in writing (letter, fax or
e-mail) to VTR
Special Plates Branch.
Requests to restock previously approved inventory levels will
be filled immediately. Requests to stock specialty plates not on
our "County Specialty Plate Stock Approval List" or at much
higher quantities than previously approved will be forwarded to
Field Operations for consideration. If approved, the requested
plates will be added to the Approval List for future orders. In
the event that we are unable to approve your requests, we will
call and explain the reasons for disapproval.
All requests will be delivered to the requesting county’s
main office address.
COUNTY ACTION
County tax offices that wish to request inventories of specialty
license plates should submit a request to the VTR Special Plates
Branch.

Registration and Title Bulletins (RTB) contain attachments. If you

Repeat requests are subject to charges in accordance with Open Record
policies. A subscription service is also available for an annual fee of
$250. Subscribers will automatically receive all RTB mailings as they
