Motor Vehicle Sales Tax Credit for Calendar Year 2006 |
Attachment
[pdf, 4 pages, 24kb]These documents contain text of correspondence sent by
TxDOT to the county tax assessor-collectors, statutory agents who provide
vehicle registration and titling services for citizens in Texas. This
information is provided to apprise the general public of issues affecting the
state’s vehicle titling and registration process.
PURPOSE
Beginning January 2007, sales tax credit was estimated based on
sales tax commission for calendar year 2006. Utilizing the new
figures provided by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts,
the actual amount of motor vehicle sales tax and penalties your
county is entitled to retain during calendar year 2007 is
indicated on the attached list under the Sales Tax Credit
column. This amount is retained through registration fees, and
the remainder of the tax commission will be taken from motor
vehicle sales tax and Texas Emissions Reduction Plan (TERP)
surcharges.
Beginning on April 24, 2007, the funds remittance reports
reflect the new County Road and Bridge Fund split levels
calculated from these figures.
