Frequently Asked Questions for your reference and use.
DETAILS
The department has seen a considerable increase in the number of
complaints received from vehicle owners who have sold or transferred their
vehicle to a new owner, but the new owner has failed to transfer the title. To
ensure consistency when responding to questions regarding this subject, we have
developed the attached Vehicle Transfer Notification: Frequently Asked
Questions (FAQ).
Guidelines for vehicle buyers and sellers, including information regarding
vehicle transfer notifications, have also been added to the TxDOT Web site (www.txdot.gov)
under the “Vehicle Titles” tab. The Web site Frequently Asked Questions will be
updated in the near future. Customers may be referred to the Web site for
additional information regarding vehicle transfers and to download a copy of the
Texas Motor Vehicle Transfer Notification, Form VTR-346.
