Rail Relocation and Improvement Fund

In many urban areas of the state, rail lines are now moving through densely developed areas. Public safety and congestion issues resulted in the Texas Legislature passing HB1546 and HJR54 in the 2005 Legislative Session. This legislation established the Rail Relocation and Improvement Fund pending voter approval of a constitutional amendment.

On November 8, 2005, voters approved Proposition 1, creating the Rail Relocation and Improvement Fund. While the fund has been created, no appropriations have been made to the fund at this time.

For further details on this fund, please contact the Multimodal Section of the Transportation Planning and Programming Division at (512) 486-5127.
