Texas-Mexico Border Crossings Study Overview

The objective of this study is to perform travel-time analyses on the 26 international border crossings along the Texas-Mexico border. This will help us identify short-term improvements to ease congestion on the U.S. side within a five-year time frame.

The major elements of the study include traffic data collection, actual travel time runs through the border crossings and the development and evaluation of alternatives. The study will also include:

  • conceptual drawings,
  • collection of environmental data,
  • evaluation of environmental impacts,
  • traffic modeling, and
  • cost estimates of preliminary construction, right of way and mitigation.
