Description

This four-lane bridge has a pedestrian walkway on one side and is 15,770 feet long.

The crossing is also known locally as Puente Internacional Reynosa-Pharr and Nuevo Amanecer.

History

Beginning September 1, 1996, all northbound commercial vehicles were directed to this bridge from the McAllen-Hidalgo-Reynosa Bridge. Southbound commercial vehicles are permitted to use either bridge to enter Mexico.

Identified Needs

This bridge sees a mix of commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles and pedestrians. Identified needs include a comprehensive review of possible intersection improvements and increased signage.
