Fabens-Caseta Bridge

Description

This is a narrow, two-lane bridge built in 1938. It is one of three small, light-duty bridges built by the International Boundary and Water Commission as part of the U.S.-Mexico Rio Grande Rectification Project.

The crossing is also known locally as Puente La Caseta and Tornillo-Guadalupe.

Identified Needs

When there are longer wait times at the Ysleta-Zaragoza Bridge, traffic tends to move toward the Fabens-Caseta Bridge. Identified needs include better route signage to the bridge in this area and throughout El Paso. Additionally, a new cargo facility will be built in this area, and a resulting increase in truck traffic needs to be considered. Also, the Border Highway East extension needs to be considered since it lies within the study area of this bridge.

Recommendations

At the end of the study, improvements will be recommended based upon identified needs of the border crossings. If you would like to comment on the study, please e-mail us.
