Description

The four lanes of this bridge are only used for northbound, noncommercial, passenger vehicles. It was rebuilt in 1967 as part of the Chamizal Treaty.

The crossing is also known locally as Paso del Norte Bridge, Santa Fe Street Bridge, Puente Benito Juárez, Puente Paso del Norte and Puente Juárez-Santa Fe.

More information is available from the City of El Paso.

Identified Needs

This bridge receives a high number of pedestrians and passenger vehicles. Identified needs include a better flow of traffic approaching and leaving the bridge. Safety should also be improved as many pedestrians use this bridge to access bus stations near the port of entry.
