Your open records request must contain:
- the specific information you are seeking,
- a contact person's name and phone number,
- instructions on how the information is to be delivered, and
- payment information.
To expedite shipping, provide a credit card number with your request.
Please fax your request on letterhead to (512) 467-3960 and specify that your
request is being made under the "Public Information Act."

Obtaining MCD Information
- Database records are in Dbase III format stored on CD ROM.
- The customer is responsible for having DBase III- compliant software in
order to view the data (MS Access, MS Excel). TxDOT does not provide
browsers or viewers.
- Each CD ROM contains a text file with instructions for database use.
- File structures are available with each request.
- Cost is calculated according to the length of time it takes to extract
the information from servers, mainframe platforms, etc.
- Fees are payable by MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express,
personal or business check, cashier's check, or money order. Add $1 to
credit card orders. When paying by check, cashier's check, or money order
make payable to the Texas Department of Transportation and send to Texas
Department of Transportation (MCD-BC), 125 East 11th Street, Austin, TX
78701-2483.

- Information can be shipped by U.S. Mail, Federal Express, United Postal
Service, Airborne Mail, or DHL.
Databases
The following databases are available on CD-ROM at a cost
of $72.60 each (plus postage and handling).
- Motor Carriers
- Household Goods Carriers (HHG)
- Hazardous Materials Carriers (HAZ)
These databases contain contact and insurance information for motor carriers registered or licensed to
operate in Texas. Motor carrier information includes
company name, address, phone number, company, or carrier type, TxDOT certificate
number and ID, and vehicle count.
Insurance information includes insurance company, policy number, policy status,
amount of coverage, and TDI number.
