Items that did not sell during the 10-day
advertisement period may be disposed of through a sealed bid advertisement to
the general public.
Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) oversees all aspects of the sealed bid process. TFC develops the Invitation for Bids (IFB), mails an IFB to
all prospective bidders who are registered on the bidder’s list for the commodity
being offered, opens and tabulates the bids, awards the sale, and administers the
sales contract until payment is received and the item is removed from state premises.
Important Facts to Know:
- See
Sealed Bid Invitations for current bid solicitations for all state agencies.
- Bidders must submit their bid(s) to the address given on the first page of the IFB.
- The bid must be signed and returned before the bid opening date and time.
Late bids will not be considered under any circumstances.
- Bids are awarded to the highest bidder for each line item listed.
- If there are multiple line items listed on the IFB, the possibility exists for multiple awards.
- The first three digits of the bid number represent the agency number.
The last four digits are the sale number. For example, 601-4535 means:
Agency 601 (the Texas Department of Transportation) - Sale Number 4535.
- The various state agency numbers and associated names can be accessed
by clicking on the "Agency Numbers" link at the bottom of this page.
The link also provides important telephone numbers to each of the agency’s major business areas.
- Inquiries regarding sealed bid advertisements may be directed to
the TFC. Please be sure to
have the bid number readily available when inquiring about a particular sale.
- If you have questions concerning the condition of the item(s) offered,
you may contact the TxDOT representative listed in the description block of the IFB.
