This
five-day lesson plan is designed for 7th grade Texas history students and meets
Texas Education Agency goals. The curriculum was prepared in 1999 by Mary S.
Black of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education, The
University of Texas at Austin, for Prewitt and Associates, Inc., under a
contract with the Environmental Affairs Division of TxDOT. TxDOT completed excavations at the Rubin Hancock Farmstead as part of its
responsibility to recover information from important archeological sites
affected by transportation projects. In 1998, TxDOT contracted with Prewitt and
Associates to complete analysis of the data recovered during the excavations,
prepare technical reports on the site, and produce this curriculum.
