In 2005, we undertook a study of the impact and relationship of airports in
Texas with the statewide economy. We found that Texas aviation provides over
61,000 jobs, with 2.5 billion in payroll and 8.7 billion in total economic
output.
Texas has two of the top 10 busiest airports in the nation. It also has 303
public, general-aviation airports and 23 commercial service airports. Airports
help meet our transportation needs and also stimulate economic growth in the local community by providing revenue, jobs, and wages. The
reports below offer an excellent foundation for local communities to promote,
support, and maintain their local aviation facility.
- Technical Report - A
detailed description of the methodology used and how it was applied to identify
and quantify the economic impacts to the State and local economies resulting
from the daily operation of the Texas airport system.
- Summary Brochure - A
summary of the total economic impacts to the State and local economies resulting
from the daily operation of the Texas airport system.
- Individual Airport Brochures - Information is also available about the
economic impact of individual commercial service
and general aviation airports.
