US 271 from SH 37 to north of Trent Lake Bridge in Lamar and Red River Counties
Project description
TxDOT Paris District is proposing to improve US 271 from SH 37 to 0.283 miles north of Trent Lake bridge in Red River County. The proposed project length is approximately 7.2 miles.
The proposed improvements to US 271 include the following:
- Widening US 271 from SH 37 to 0.2 miles north of Trent Lake bridge, from two‑lane highway to four‑lane divided highway
The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potential displacements of residential and commercial structures.
Project timeline
The initial public meeting was held on June 20, 2020, and a second public meeting is anticipated for fall of 2025. Once public comments and environmental reviews have been completed, they will be submitted for approval in summer of 2026. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring of 2029. Please note that these dates are preliminary and subject to change.
