I-35 Segment 1 from I-20 to FM 3391/East Renfro Street

Interstate I-35W background

Interstate 35W is the main north-south corridor through the cities of Fort Worth, Everman, Crowley, and Burleson in Tarrant and Johnson counties.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Tarrant County was ranked as the fifth fastest growing county in the United States between 2010 and 2019. This growth is the catalyst for the need to expand the existing transportation infrastructure.

Proposed benefits

The TxDOT Fort Worth district is conducting a corridor study of I-35W between I-20 and SH 174 to develop proposed improvements that would increase capacity, improve safety and mobility and ease congestion in this area.

Proposed improvements

As the study progresses, public involvement will be a key component of the project. Interested residents as well as property and business owners can provide comments throughout the study and at public meetings planned at key milestones during the project.

Get involved

The public will be able to gather information, review schematic plans, meet with TxDOT and consultant staff, ask questions and leave comments regarding the proposed design, right of way, and environmental impact during these meetings. The following is a tentative meeting schedule:

Technical working group meeting #1 - held on June 26, 2019
