FM 917 Notice of Opportunity to Comment for property owners

TxDOT is proposing to improve FM 917 from I-35W to south of BU 287P in Johnson County, Texas. This notice is affording an opportunity to comment as part of the environmental review process for this project. If you are a property owner, you are receiving this notice because records indicate that you own property that (1) would be acquired (in part or in whole) for this project, or (2) is adjacent to the project. This notice and opportunity to comment is also being provided to affected local governments and public officials. 

The proposed project would include:

• Reconstructing and widening FM 917 from I-35W to south of BU 287P from an existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane, divided roadway
• Replacing the two existing ninety-degree turns that are currently located at FM 917 intersections with East Renfro Street and Cummings Drive 
• A new-location section south of the current roadway and would then follow the existing FM 917 alignment

 The project is approximately 10 miles in length and improvements would widen FM 917 from two lanes to an interim four lanes and an ultimate six lane facility. 

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace <enter number> residences and <enter number> non-residential structures.
