Purpose The Texas Department of Transportation San Angelo District is proposing to widen US 83 from Concho County line to US 190 North of Menard in Menard County, Texas.
Description

The proposed project would extend for approximately 10.6 miles along US 83, which currently consists of a rural two-lane undivided highway with alternating Super-2 passing lanes within a 120-foot-wide right of way. The proposed project would evaluate alignment alternatives to widen US 83 within a 370-foot-wide right of way. The proposed project would be constructed in two phases; Phase I (interim design) would primarily widen US 83 to a four-lane divided highway; Phase II (ultimate design) would widen US 83 to a controlled-access interstate system by constructing frontage roads on either side of the interim design mainlanes.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and an analysis will be conducted to determine whether the proposed project would result in impacts to environmental resources or result in potential displacements as the project develops.

Accessibility The virtual public meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disab ility and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services or you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the virtual public meeting or in-person option, please contact Karen Threlkeld, Public Information Officer, TxDOT San Angelo District, at 325-947-9205 no later than 4:00 p.m. CT, Monday, Dec. 4, 2023.
