In-person details
Additionally, TxDOT is providing an in-person option for individuals who would like to participate in person instead of online. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation and materials delivered in the online public meeting, which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff, and leave written comments. The in-person option will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Suchma Elementary School, 10261 Harpers School Road, Conroe, Texas 77385.
Purpose The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project to the public and receive comments. The project is proposing improvement along SH 242 from FM 1488 to I-45 in Montgomery County, Texas. The virtual and in-person meeting will consist of the same narrated presentation by the project team, project exhibits and other information, and an opportunity to comment.
Description

The proposed project would add two lanes (one eastbound and one westbound) to the existing SH 242 from FM 1488 to I-45, a distance of approximately 4.4 miles. The width of the existing vegetated median would be reduced by 20 feet to accommodate the added travel lanes and the remaining space would be converted to a raised median. The roadway would have ten-foot outside shoulders and four-foot inside shoulders. Drainage would be open ditch. Additionally, TxDOT plans to construct three detention basins along SH 242 that would require approximately 21.2 acres of proposed right-of-way.

No additional right-of-way would be required for the roadway improvements, however additional right-of-way would be needed for the detention ponds. No residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from 713-802-5470.

The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain. Approximately 6.9 acres of the proposed project area are within the Federal Emergency Management Agency designated 100-year floodplain. The proposed project would not raise the base flood elevation to a level that would violate applicable floodplain regulations or ordinances.
