Purpose The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the City of Pearland are proposing to widen Mykawa Road from FM 518 to Beltway 8 in Harris and Brazoria counties, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT and the City of Pearland are affording an opportunity for a public hearing on the proposed project.
Description

The proposed design would widen the existing Mykawa Road from a two-lane undivided roadway to a four-lane divided roadway with a 10-foot shared use path for bicycles and pedestrians, separated from vehicles along the west side of the roadway. The proposed project would also include storm water drainage and detention, landscaping, street lighting, modification of traffic signals and utility relocations. The existing right of way widths vary from 60-100 feet and the proposed right of way widths vary from 60-150 feet. The total project length is approximately 2.9 miles.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require 28 acres of additional right of way and potentially displace two residences and one commercial business. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right of way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from City of Pearland’s Acquisition Manager, Anthony Vu, at 281-652-1794, AVu@pearlandtx.gov.

The proposed project would involve construction in wetlands.

The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain.
