Purpose | TxDOT is proposing to improve FM 548 from SH 66 to South of Crenshaw Road in Royse City in Rockwall County, Texas. The purpose of the proposed project is to enhance the various mobility, access management and roadway safety aspects along FM 548. |
Description | The proposed project reconstructs and widens FM 548 from a two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane divided urban roadway. The proposed project would include accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists. The project would extend for a length of approximately 2.97 miles along FM 548 from SH 66 in Royse City to south of Crenshaw Road in Rockwall County, Texas. The existing Right-of-Way width (ROW) varies from 60 feet-wide to 100 feet-wide and the proposed Right-of-Way width (ROW) varies from 70 feet-wide to 145 feet-wide along the project corridor. The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional ROW and have a potential displacement or relocation of two business locations and one residential location. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. The proposed ROW is approximately 13.24 acres. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for ROW acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling (214) 320-6675 or on the project website. The proposed project would potentially involve construction in wetlands. The proposed project would also potentially involve an action in a floodplain. |
