Purpose

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Bryan District is proposing improvements to FM 1179 from Easterling Drive to FM 158 (Boonville Road) in Brazos County, Texas.  This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting a public meeting on the proposed project.

Description

The proposed improvements would widen the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway, two lanes in each direction separated by a raised median with dedicated left turn lanes at selected intersections. The project would also construct roundabouts at the Coyote Run Road and Merka Road / Steep Hollow Road intersections, as well as provide pedestrian and bicycle accommodations along the project corridor. The total length of the project is about 3.6 miles and approximately 39 acres of proposed right-of-way would be required for roadway improvements.

The proposed improvements, subject to final design considerations, would require additional right of way and potentially displace one residence and one non-residential structure. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT Bryan District Right of Way office by calling 979-778-9607.

Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection by appointment Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at TxDOT Bryan District Office, 2591 North Earl Rudder Freeway, Bryan, TX 77803, 979-778-9722. This information also will be available at the meeting.

If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs.
