Purpose The TxDOT Bryan District is developing plans to improve safety along BS 36J, also known as S Day Street, from W Stone Street to US 290 in Brenham, Washington County, Texas. This notice advises the public that TxDOT will be conducting a public meeting on the proposed project.
Description

The proposed project along S Day Street would replace the existing center turn lane with raised medians and dedicated left-turn lanes at selected locations. The proposed raised median design would enhance safety by reducing vehicle conflicts between left-turning traffic and head-on traffic, as well as crossing traffic from adjacent properties and local side streets. In addition, U-turn locations would be constructed to accommodate turnaround movements allowing traffic to safely change direction of travel.

Additional right of way would be required for the proposed improvements; however, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT Bryan District Right of Way Office by calling 979-218-2873.

Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection by appointment Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TXDOT Bryan District Office, 2591 North Earl Rudder Freeway, Bryan, Texas 77803, 979-778-9231. This information also will be available for inspection at the meeting.

Accessibility The public meeting will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services or you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the public meeting, please contact the Bryan District Public Information Officer at 979-778-9764 no later than 4 p.m. CT, Monday, Nov. 13, 2023.
