Wurzbach Parkway
The Wurzbach Parkway extension project, which will connect Interstate 10 to
Interstate 35, completes a road almost 35 years in the making. The result of the
project will offer commuters a third east-west corridor option in addition to
Loop 410 and Loop 1604. Broken into three segments, work will begin on the
project from January to August 2011.
A 2015 completion date is scheduled for the final segment, a 1.7-mile stretch
that consists primarily of bridge work between West Avenue and Jones-Maltsberger.
The other two segments are set to complete mid-2013.
The $146 million combined project includes improvements to West Avenue, U.S.
Highway 281 and Starcrest. New on- and off-ramps will be built at Blanco Road,
West Avenue, U.S. 281, Jones-Maltsberger and Starcrest. Additional access points
will be built at Vista Del Norte, North Loop Road and the San Antonio Brush
Recycling Center.
An estimated 40,000 cars will be served daily by this roadway.
