Walters Street Bridge at I-35 in Bexar County
TxDOT will be replacing the Walters Street Bridge from the current 64 feet to a
proposed 101 feet with turnarounds. Rich architectural enhancements replicate
historic features unique to Ft. Sam Houston and provide a unique transition zone
between the more historic areas into the downtown area. Also included are
operational improvements on the frontage roads, main lanes and pedestrian
amenities such as sidewalks.
The $23 million project began in March 2008 and is anticipated for completion in
December 2010.
