I-820 Public Hearing Scheduled

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has announced the public hearing for Northeast Loop 820 will be held Tuesday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at the Richland Hills Church of Christ located at 6300 North East Loop 820 in North Richland Hills, with displays available for viewing at 6:30 p.m.

The 6.4-mile project would include the reconstruction of the existing lanes and the addition of four tolled managed "express" lanes and two non-toll lanes from Interstate 35W to the Northeast Interchange, including a new multi-level interchange at I-35W.

This project is being studied as Segment 1 of the North Tarrant Express. Three private sector firms are competing to accelerate improvements on these and other segments along I-820, SH 121/183 "Airport Freeway" and I-35W by combining express lanes and high occupancy vehicle lanes (HOV). A final selection of a best value proposer is expected by this fall. Construction could begin on Northeast Loop 820 in 2009 at the earliest.

Persons interested in attending the hearing who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact TxDOT at (817) 370-6610. Since the hearing will be conducted in English, any requests for language interpreters or other special communication needs should also be made at least 72 hours prior to the hearing. TxDOT will make every reasonable effort to accommodate these needs.

Written comments may be submitted either in person or by mail to the TxDOT Fort Worth District Office, 2501 SW Loop 820, P.O. Box 6868, Fort Worth, Texas 76115. Comments must be received on or before July 14, 2008 in order to become part of the official hearing record.
