SH 6 Improvement Project

TxDOT intends to improve mobility and safety along State Highway (SH) 6 between Farm to Market (FM) 158 (Boonville Road) and Old Reliance Road.

School Traffic

The northbound SH 6 frontage road between FM 158 (Boonville Road) and Old Reliance Road is congested at times due to Sam Rayburn Middle School traffic.

The proposed new James Earl Rudder High School will only place additional strain on this system.

Planned Improvements

The SH 6 project will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve safety. Planned improvements include:

  • Signalizing the intersections at Old Reliance Road and SH 6 frontage roads
  • Adding right turn lanes at Old Reliance Road and the northbound frontage road
  • Relocating ramps to improve traffic flow to high traffic areas
