The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) identified US 183, within the project limits, as a component of the Austin regional toll system in an amendment to its long-range transportation plan (LRTP) (CAMPO 2025 Transportation Plan) in July 2004.

CAMPO works cooperatively with other transportation agencies, including the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA), an agency created to improve the transportation system in Travis and Williamson counties, to develop an integrated system of toll roads for the region.

Through a funding program that includes bonding and toll revenues, roadway projects can be developed and built more quickly than by relying upon traditional funding sources alone.
