The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has begun a project to reconstruct a portion of Texas 6 from Marlin to Riesel. The approximately 9 ½ -mile project will widen the existing 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane divided facility from just north of the City of Marlin to just south of the City of Riesel. It is part of a multi-million dollar construction program, that began in 1999, to upgrade Texas 6 from Waco to the Falls/Robertson county line, part of the 10,500 mile Texas Trunk System. The $22 million project is being undertaken by Young Contractors, Inc., of Waco and is scheduled for completion in the Summer of 2007. TxDOT cautions motorists to reduce speed, observe all warning signs, be patient and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area. Additionally, motorists are advised that fines will be doubled for speed violations within work zones. |
