The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has begun a project to reconstruct a portion of Farm to Market Road 937 between Groesbeck and Box Church in Limestone County. The approximately five mile project will widen the travel lanes, add shoulders, and reduce the number of curves in the existing two lane roadway from the Groesbeck city limits east to the vicinity of Box Church. The multi-phase project began with the setting of barricades and warning signs along FM 937 on June 6. It is being undertaken by Garey Construction Ltd. of Austin at a cost of $8.3 million and is scheduled for completion in late 2007. As the project progresses, a regulatory speed reduction will go into effect, doubling the cost of fines for traffic violations within the work zone when workers are present. TxDOT cautions motorists to reduce speed, observe all warning signs, be patient and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area. |
