Construction Project - Interstate 35 - Hill County

WACO - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin a multi-phase project to improve Interstate 35 in Hill County, from FM 310 (Fm 364A) south of Hillsboro, to Farm to Market Road 286 (Exit 368B).

The project is scheduled to begin in mid-February and will provide additional roadway capacity by adding a travel lane in both the north and southbound directions of I-35. Additionally, one-way frontage roads will be constructed, as well as new ramps and bridges within the project area.

Phase I of the project will include overlay of frontage roads, I-35 mainlane construction within the median and building a new direct connector from I-35 to SH 81. Subsequent phases will remove and replace bridges at FM 3267, HCR 3102 and the Union Pacific Railroad as well as upgrading existing ramps and/or constructing new ramps at FM 3267, SH 22, HCR 3102 and FM 310.

The project is being undertaken by W.W. Webber, Inc. of Houston at a cost of $64.7 Million and is scheduled for completion in the Summer of 2009, weather permitting.

TxDOT urges the traveling public to be patient, observe all warning signs, exercise extreme caution, and be aware of construction personnel and equipment in the work area.
