FM 157 (Cooper Street) Construction Begins Next Week at I-20

ARLINGTON – Work begins next week on the Farm-to-Market 157 (Cooper Street) bridge improvement project over Interstate 20. The $3 million project will improve mobility in the FM 157 (Cooper Street) corridor by adding two lanes (one in each direction) to the bridges over I-20 and dual left turn lanes on the north and south sides of the bridges. Other improvements will include: wider sidewalks, signals and bridge approaches. The first phase of construction will be paint removal from the bridge.

Doughtie Construction Co. of Huntsville, Texas will be the principle contractor for the project. During the first phase, construction will be conducted at night and last approximately two months. After the first phase, two lanes of traffic will be maintained on the north and southbound bridges during construction. The project is estimated for completion by winter/spring 2011.

Project daily lane closures are accessible by viewing road conditions.
