TARRANT COUNTY - WHERE: The Wells-Burnett Road/Normandy Avenue bridge at State Highway 199 in Azle
WHEN: Friday, August 21, weather permitting
WHAT: On Friday, the new Wells-Burnett Road/Normandy Avenue bridge will be opened to motorists just in time for the new school year. In addition to this bridge opening, the intersection of SH 199 and Hanger Cut-Off/Tenderfoot Trail will be fully opened on Thursday. These openings and the new signals with video detection cameras will allow for greater traffic flow.
The improvements are part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) SH 199 project from Farm-to-Market Road 1886 to Denver Trail which will be completed by winter/spring 2010. After this project is completed, a second project will begin in 2010 to extend a portion of the SH 199 main lanes from east of Denver Trail (under Wells-Burnett Road) to Hanger-Cut-Off/Tenderfoot Trail.
