AUSTIN - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin razing the existing Yager Lane bridge over Interstate 35 beginning Monday night. Crews will close the northbound access road at 8:00 PM and all traffic will have to enter the main lanes between Walnut Creek and Parmer Lane. During the evening hours, the east end of the bridge will be demolished. Traffic on the access road will be restored to normal by 6:00 AM Tuesday, but Yager will remain closed at IH-35 for the next eight months. Yager Lane traffic will use Canyon Ridge Drive to access the interstate during construction. The remainder of the bridge demolition will be done throughout the week as follows: - Tuesday and Wednesday: Various north and southbound main lane closures at Yager between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM as crews prepare for demolition over the interstate.
- Thursday: No work scheduled.
- Friday: The northbound interstate will be closed at Yager between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM and the span over the northbound lanes removed.
- Saturday: The southbound interstate will be closed at Yager between 8:00 PM and 8:00 AM and the span over the southbound lanes removed.
- Sunday: The southbound access road will be closed at Yager between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM and the west end of the bridge removed.
Once the old two-lane structure is demolished, it will be replaced with a new six-lane bridge. The east end will be aligned with Tech Ridge Boulevard. By connecting Tech Ridge to IH-35, shopping centers, residential areas and industrial sectors will have alternative access to the interstate besides the Parmer Lane interchange.
