Texas Transportation Commission Meets in Fort Worth

AUSTIN - Who, What, When, Where

  • The Texas Transportation Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting October 29.
  • The meeting, open to the public, will start at 9:00 a.m., in Fort Worth, at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St.

Why

  • The commission periodically holds meetings in locations around the state to make it easier for Texans to participate in state transportation decision-making.

Background

  • The five-member commission is the governing body of the Texas Department of Transportation. Members are appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Texas Senate for overlapping six-year terms.
  • Deirdre Delisi, chair of the Texas Transportation Commission, was appointed by Gov. Rick Perry in April 2008.
  • Ned S. Holmes was appointed commissioner by Gov. Rick Perry in January 2007.
  • Ted Houghton was appointed commissioner by Gov. Rick Perry in December 2003 and reappointed in February 2009.
  • William Meadows was appointed commissioner by Gov. Rick Perry in April 2008.
  • Fred Underwood was appointed commissioner by Gov. Rick Perry in January 2007.
  • Amadeo Saenz is executive director of TxDOT.
  • TxDOT’s Fort Worth District Engineer is Maribel Chavez, P.E. The district oversees a 9-county area which includes: Erath, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise.
